You’re a non-technical CEO with a software dream
Jakibi is not just an online auction platform. It’s a gamified interface that can delight treasure hunters and antique collectors in a way only live in-person auctions could.
What – Product Strategy, Branding, Platform Development
Jakibi begins in Montreal, Quebec with the owner of The Montreal Auction House (La Maison Des Encans). He approached HalfSerious with a concept: every month, collectors from far and wide would travel to the Island of Montreal to bid and acquire rare antiquities through live-auction. We’re talking about highly coveted art pieces, antiquity china, and first edition books. But what about those small high-quality items not worth the kilometers and the displacement? Sure, there are interfaces like eBay and Christie’s, but they lacked the pizzazz and excitement projected at the podium.
The result is a uniquely gamified online platform that connects antiquity sellers and buyers by way of Dutch auction.
At the center of our collaboration was learning and education. The non-technical founder educated us on his market and the vision of the product. Meanwhile, as a SaaS partner, we developed the business model and product strategy. Since its debut, customers have been able to bid and buy from not only the institution that is La Maison Des Encans, but also other unique sellers with those one of a kind objects.
